Massage Therapy is defined as the assessment and treatment of the soft tissues and joints of the body in order to decreases pain and discomfort, increase and/or maintain range of motion and flexibility, and support wellness. Some of the most common concerns massage therapy can treat are:

  • Muscular tension, tightness and contractures
  • Joint stiffness and discomfort
  • Tension headaches, migraines, cluster headaches, sinus headaches
  • Repetitive strain injuries such as tendonitis
  • Nerve Concerns such as Sciatica, Thoracic Outlet or Carpal Tunnel Syndromes
  • Sluggish circulation, sluggish digestion, sinus congestion
  • Discomforts associated with pregnancy
  • Stress, anxiety, sleep disturbances

RMTs In Ontario

Registered Massage Therapists are educated in anatomy, physiology, pathology, kinesiology, nutrition, public health, remedial exercise, and clinical treatment. Massage Therapists in Ontario must complete a certain number of continuing education units in order to keep our knowledge and skills up-to-date. Since 2004, I have completed courses in Manual Lymphatic Drainage, Advanced Soft Tissue Manipulation of the Cervical (Neck) Region, Advanced Soft Tissue Manipulation of the Lumbar Region, Massage Therapy and Cancer, Neuromuscular Integration and Structural Alignment (NISA), Rhythmic Technique, and numerous Anatomy Review courses.
